Thought I would post and tell everyone about a good experience with BPS Reel Repair customer service.
Received one of the new JM limited reels for Christmas. Took it out on Monday, and on the second cast, the side plate flies off, and into the lake. Since Iím fishing deep, there is no way to recover it. Needless to say, I was not happy.
Yesterday, I called and left a voice mail for the Reel Repair dept, to see if I can order a replacement cover. Clearly not a warranty issue, so I am expecting to pay shipping and for the part. Keeping in mind that I might be better off to just get a different reel, depending on the cost.
When I left the message, I figured that I would never hear back from them, having been down this road with other companies. Well, I was very pleasantly surprised to receive a call from them first thing this morning. They offered to send the replacement free of charge. While I donít expect that that in every case, it sure was nice to not be out more money on a Christmas gift. The lady that I spoke with was very pleasant and even called me back when she confirmed that they could get the side plate, (since she was not familiar with this specific model).
While I know there are lots of other companies out there that sell tackle, and I buy my share from Wal-Mart and others also, I sure spend a chunk with BPS, and service like this helps encourage my purchase. Now, if I can just get that bait monkey off my back. Those Christmas gift cards are still calling, but I am trying to hold out
